We've had the collecting bug about a decade,
and sometimes wonder what it would've been like to do it back
in the 70's or 80's. At least we were around to enjoy the very
early years of ebay and the tail end of the heydeys for radio
club flea markets and auctions.
My "Radiobarn" is more like a
radio shed; still, Radiobarn is more a state of mind than
a physical place; an image of a winding country road far from
the urban roar, where just around a hilly curve sits
an old but proud relic of American farming heritage. It's
hard to resist pulling over, stopping the car and getting
out to peer just inside the barn doors, where in a far corner, sits
what looks to be an old wood radio, full of tubes, memories and perhaps
a rat's nest. Whether searching a barn, attic, basement
or flea market, it's the thrill of the hunt we share with fellow collectors that
keeps us going.
