Midgets
Midgets seem easier to come by in plastic or metal form.  In addition, those made of wood seemed to suffer more abuse.  Since they were made for the price-concious market, most were not worth using veneers on and usually had solid wood cases.  Still, note the nice 2-toned Travler and especially the craftmenship of the RCA Victor, which I believe has the same chassis, dial, bezel and knobs as the more expensive beetle plastic version.
