Silvertone came out with several midget lines, probably in keeping with their marketing toward the middle class family.  This included metal, other plastics including beetle and even a wood midget.  This line is circa 1939, models 5165-5169.  They came in black bakelite, ivory and red plaskon cases and also brown bakelite (not pictured).   They never painted the cases, to my knowledge.  The dial was prone to warpage and cracking, just like on some Detrola midgets.
